Position Overview:
The Membership Manager at our Rochester, NY athletic club is a hands-on leader responsible for driving membership growth and shaping a healthy, high-performing sales culture within the club. This role is about more than hitting numbers, it’s about creating an environment where the team thrives through autonomy, mastery, and purpose, and where every prospective member feels valued and inspired.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership & Strategy
Own the execution of membership sales strategy for Midtown Athletic Club, balancing performance goals with Midtown’s member-centric values.
Set clear, inspiring standards for success, focusing on consultative selling and long-term relationships, not just transactions.
Use data as a clear guide, not a pressure point, leveraging analytics to inform decisions while preserving a human-centered approach.
Culture & Team Development
Build a healthy sales culture rooted in purpose-driven performance, where the team understands the why behind Midtown’s mission, and you understand the team’s why.
Empower autonomy within clear frameworks, giving team members freedom to innovate while maintaining accountability for results.
Create pathways for mastery through continuous learning, coaching, and skill development beyond closing sales, emphasizing emotional intelligence and member experience.
Celebrate progress, not just outcomes, recognizing behaviors that align with Midtown’s values of better than yesterday, win together, glass half-full, passionate about helping others, and kind.
Member Experience & Retention
Partner with Club Operations and Marketing to ensure onboarding and engagement strategies deliver exceptional experiences.
Drive initiatives that deepen member loyalty and increase retention through personalized, high-touch enrollment experiences.
Data-Informed, Human-Centered Leadership
Utilize HubSpot and analytics tools to track performance and forecast trends without losing sight of the human element.
Collaborate with Marketing to optimize lead generation and conversion through digital and in-club channels.
Success in This Role Looks Like
Membership Growth: Consistently meets or exceeds monthly and quarterly membership acquisition goals.
Healthy Sales Culture: Team engagement improves, leaders emerge, daily accountability is shared among all team members, and support of others’ goals are normal practice.
Member Experience Excellence: New members report high satisfaction during onboarding; retention rates trend upward.
Team Development: Sales team demonstrates improved consultative selling skills and confidence through coaching and training.
Data-Driven Performance: HubSpot usage is consistent and accurate; pipeline health and conversion metrics are transparent and actionable.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in membership sales leadership, preferably in luxury fitness, hospitality, or lifestyle brands.
Strong track record of driving acquisition and retention through strategic planning and team development.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and coaching skills that inspire trust and accountability.
Analytical mindset with proficiency in HubSpot systems and data-driven decision-making.

Salary: Salary range at $60-75K, plus bonus potential. The actual compensation will depend on experience, and/or additional skills you bring to the table.
