Midtown is looking for a Construction Manager to add to our world class organization. This position will manage large scale renovation projects across the Midtown Athletic Club portfolio, including locations in the United States and Canada and prospective clubs to come. As part of the Corporate Facilities & Development leadership team, the Construction Manager is responsible for delivering spaces that fit the Midtown brand standard while maintaining cost and operational efficiencies.

The team is based in our HQ office in Chicago (3611 N Kedzie Ave.) but will require frequent travel to all Midtown locations as projects require.

  • The role is hybrid work-from-home and required to also come in the office in Chicago
  • This position is based in the Chicago area and will involve frequent travel to all eight Midtown club locations as projects require

CORE FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and/or coordinate some or all aspects of renovation and new build projects from bidding through project closeout
  • Source local partners to realize project completion, including preparing bid documents, comparing proposals and negotiating contracts
  • Work closely with design, engineering and specialist vendor partners through bidding and construction phases to maximize project efficiency and execution
  • Serve as an onsite presence during construction phases
  • Coordinate preparation of permit applications for review/approval
  • Coordinate with club operators, corporate staff and contractors to execute an optimal project schedule and logistics plan to minimize member impact
  • Lead OAC meetings to review progress and address challenges
  • Track and manage project performance vs budget; review pay applications, change orders and progress billing reports
  • Maintain robust documentation throughout project, e.g. contract documents, RFI logs, pay applications and close out documentation
  • Participate in identifying, scoping and planning capital projects across a forecast period
  • Work in close partnership and coordination with corporate Facilities and Development teammates, in particular facilities and interiors, in project execution

KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATION

  • Demonstrated experience executing high end projects, with exceptional level of design detail and finish
  • Strong knowledge of skilled trades including carpentry, masonry, concrete work, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, and electrical
  • Candidate must be extremely proficient reviewing and understanding all construction documents, including contracts, specifications and drawings
  • Excellent communication skills with various parties including management, operators, corporate partners, contractors, consultants and designers
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction management experience
  • High level of computer literacy in MS Office Suite and Project
  • Degree from an accredited university

Salary Range: $90,000-$115,000. The actual compensation will depend on experience, and/or additional skills you bring to the table.
