Staff Accountant

Midtown is looking for a professionally minded full-time Staff Accountant to add to our world class organization.

This is a hybrid role currently requiring two in office days per week (3611 N. Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL)

The Position

Our Staff Accountants provide accounting support to several remote locations. As an integral part of the team, they have a positive impact on the success of our business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly and annual financial statements through preparation of general ledger account reconciliations, journal entries and monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Review monthly financial statements with management teams, providing variance analysis as needed
  • Ensure accounts payable transactions are properly recorded, accurate and complete
  • Review expense reports to ensure expenses are accurate, compliant with company policies, adequately documented and properly recorded
  • Maintain accurate records of fixed assets including proper capitalization and classification of acquisitions, disposals and transfers
  • Work cross functionally to ensure daily revenue journal integrations processed successfully
  • Prepare, pay and file various taxes and returns with federal, state and local government agencies for multiple states
  • Serve as the liaison between club leadership and finance department
  • Prepare audit workpapers and assist with the annual external audit
  • Complete special projects as requested

Qualifications:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • One to four years of practical accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel required; knowledge of Workday a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to determine priorities, manage time to accomplish tasks
  • Demonstrate strong analytical abilities while maintaining a broad perspective of the business
  • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Work effectively in a team environment

Compensation: Paid hourly, $65,000 -$75,000 when annualized. The actual compensation will depend on experience, and/or additional skills you bring to the table.
