 MIDTOWN ROCHESTER is looking for a Seasonal Outdoor Deck Host to add to our first-class organization. The Deck Host will be responsible for enhancing the guest experience and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for members and at the Midtown Athletic Club pool and outdoor areas.

This is a seasonal position that requires working Friday, Saturday, Sundays, as well as, summer holidays from May through Labor Day. The Deck Host will work directly with members and their children directing traffic from the lobby to the pool/tennis courts, working with café and housekeeping to ensure the pool and tennis areas remains clutter-free & organized, maintaining outdoor tennis courts, as well as, acting as a customer service representative for the club. This seasonal part-time position located in Rochester, NY pays $16.00 an hour.

The primary responsibilities are:

  • Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner

  • Hand out towels and ensure return

  • Assign pool sections

  • Monitor the pool and tennis area to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for guests

  • Manage Pool & Tennis Deck lost & found

  • Enforce Pool & Tennis Deck Etiquette and Youth Area Code

  • Assist Lifeguards when emergency action plan is activated (Call 911 if necessary)

  • Stock towels and keep tennis viewing areas neat and clean, including courts.

  • Manage light maintenance on the courts and surrounding areas (landscaping, removal of bad material, windscreen repairs, etc.).

  • Communicate with hospitality desk on court conditions.

  • Recover court time by preparing courts following inclement weather.

  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Hospitality Manager

  • Other duties as assigned by the Hospitality Manger

Deck Host requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Excellent customer service behavior

  • Ability to work effectively with parents and children

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Positive, upbeat, glass-half-full attitude

  • Passionate about helping others

  • Team player

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays through Labor Day

  • Aquatics or tennis experience preferred, but not required
