Specialist, Lifecycle Marketing (Member Retention) | Marketing Team 

Midtown is seeking a passionate and experienced Lifecycle Marketing Specialist to join our Retention Marketing team. In this role, you will own and optimize member communications, personalized journeys, and digital experiences that strengthen engagement, improve retention, and increase member lifetime value. 

This is a highly hands-on role that requires balancing strategic ownership with detailed execution. You'll partner across Club Operations, Programs, BI/Data, Rev Ops, Engineering, and Marketing to create personalized experiences that help members feel connected, engaged, and successful throughout their Midtown journey. 

Job Overview 

  • Hybrid position based in Chicago, IL, with required in-office attendance each Monday and Tuesday.  

  • Full-time position supporting all Midtown club locations.  

  • Periodic travel to local and out-of-state Midtown clubs required to build relationships, support initiatives, and better understand the member experience. 

  • Participates in a shared on-call rotation supporting urgent member communications outside normal business hours as needed. 

 

How You’ll Contribute 

You will help members get more value from their Midtown membership through personalized communications, digital experiences, and lifecycle marketing strategies that drive engagement and retention. 

  • Own the channel strategy, execution, and optimization of member campaigns and lifecycle journeys, including onboarding, engagement, retention, and member lifetime value. 

  • Build and maintain CRM segmentation, automated workflows, and behavior-based journeys that deliver relevant experiences across the member lifecycle. 

  • Develop and execute personalized member communications across app, push notifications, email, and in-club digital screens to drive engagement and action. 

  • Analyze member engagement, retention, campaign performance, and member feedback data (including NPS and online reviews) to identify opportunities and optimize results. 

  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Programs, BI/Data, Rev Ops, Engineering, and Marketing teams to deliver effective member experiences and digital solutions. 

 

What You’ll Need to Succeed 

Required Knowledge 

  • Lifecycle marketing, CRM strategy, and member engagement best practices. 

  • Audience segmentation, marketing automation, and workflow design. 

  • Digital analytics, testing methodologies, and performance optimization.  

  • Onboarding, engagement, and retention concepts within a membership, hospitality, fitness, or wellness environment.  

  • AI-enabled tools and technologies that improve marketing effectiveness, analysis, and workflow efficiency 

 

Essential Skills 

  • Building and optimizing multichannel lifecycle campaigns and member journeys.  

  • Advanced HubSpot or similar CRM platform expertise required, including segmentation, workflow automation, testing, reporting, and performance optimization. 

  • Strong copywriting, editing, and editorial judgment, with the ability to craft polished, audience-specific communications aligned to brand standards. 

  • Using member data, behavioral insights, and testing to develop hypotheses, define success metrics, and optimize lifecycle and campaign performance. 

  • Project management, prioritization, and stakeholder coordination.

  • Ability to connect business goals to thoughtful member engagement strategies.  

  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with detailed execution.  

  • Ability to balance creativity with data-driven decision making. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities without sacrificing quality or attention to detail. 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders. 

 

Required Experience 

  • 3-5 years of lifecycle marketing, CRM, customer engagement, retention marketing, or related experience. 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Analytics, or related field.  

  • Hands-on ownership of campaigns, journeys, segmentation, and performance optimization.  

  • Experience developing cross-channel communications across app, push, email, and other digital channels.  

  • Experience with CRM, CMS, analytics, and marketing technology platforms; HubSpot and Amplitude experience strongly preferred. Able to quickly learn, adopt, and leverage new technologies to improve marketing effectiveness.

Compensation & Benefits 

Compensation Range: $75,000-$90,000. The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and internal pay equity.
